    Parade FAQ's

    ***ATTENTION***

The Road Closure of Santa Ana Canyon Road through Quintana Road will be in affect from 12:30 pm – 3:00pm

    PARADE SPECTATOR QUESTIONS

What day is the 4th of July Parade on?

Believe it or not, this is one of the most frequently asked questions. The parade is always held on July 4th and this year the 4th falls on a Thursday.

What time can you start seating for the parade long the parade route?

The parade begins at 1:00 p.m. so we recommend grabbing a seat earlier up to 10:00 a.m.

What time does the parade start?

The parade begins at 1:00 p.m. on July 4, 2019.

    Where is the parade route?

The parade starts at Canyon High School, goes East on Santa Ana Canyon and ends at Quintana Drive near Eucalyptus Park.

What are the areas you recommend for viewing the parade?

The best viewing area is to be on the south side of Santa Ana Canyon Road.  You can also view the parade from the median on Santa Ana Canyon Road

How long is the parade route?

The parade route is 1.2 miles.

How long will the parade last?

The parade will last between 1 ½ – 2 hours for spectators.

    Are there bathrooms facilities available?

There are no bathroom facilities along the parade route.  The bathrooms at Canyon High School are primarily for the use of parade participants.

Where can I park for the parade?  Is handicapped parking available?

There are no parking lots or other special/handicapped parking accommodations available for the parade. We suggest that you park on the neighboring streets off of Santa Ana Canyon Road before the road closures.  If you are assisting elderly or handicapped individuals, you may want to consider patronizing one of the restaurants at Canyon Plaza before and during the parade for easy access to parking, food, drink and bathroom facilities.

What type of beverages can we bring to the parade? What is the alcoholic beverage policy for the parade?

The parade route can be very hot so we strongly suggest that you bring plenty of water or other non-alcoholic drinks. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited.

Are dogs allowed on the parade route?

Leave your pets at home as loud bands, sirens, firecrackers and confusing pedestrian traffic can really stress your pet.

Which streets will be closed and at what time?

To accommodate parade the following streets will be closed approximately between 11:45 a.m. and 12 noon:

    • South bound Imperial Highway between Nohl Ranch Road and Santa Ana Canyon
    • East and West bound Santa Ana Canyon between Imperial Highway and Quintana Road

I’m planning a large gathering at my house on July 4th and I live off Santa Ana Canyon between Imperial Highway and Fairmont (or another nearby neighborhood).  Will my guests be able to get to my house?

We strongly encourage you to tell your guest to arrive at your house before the road closures.

    PARADE PARTICIPANT QUESTIONS

How much does it cost to be in the parade?

Participation in the parade is free.

We are in the parade.  What time should we arrive and where should we go?

Staging of all parade entries is either at the lower or upper parking lot at Canyon High School.  You will be notified 3 days before the parade which parking lot you will need to check in at.  We ask that parade participants arrive no later than 11:45 a.m.  Certain parts of Imperial Highway, Santa Ana Canyon and Nohl Ranch Road will be closed off to traffic at noon.

How do we “check-in” when we arrive at the parade?

The parade-entry “check-in” tables will be located at in the upper and lower parking lot at Canyon High School.

Should every member of our parade group go through “check-in”?

No, please pre-select one person from your group to handle the “check in” process and obtain your space assignment and any last minute instructions.  Other members of your group should not go through the check-in process.

We are in the parade.  How do we get back to the beginning of the parade route?

If you are in a vehicle, you will be allowed to turn around at Quintana and drive back to Canyon High School.  If you are walking the parade, there will be buses at Eucalyptus Park to bring back participants to Canyon High School

How is the order of the parade decided?

A group of dedicated volunteers, who are experts at producing parade events, decide the order.  They mix the parade entries to ensure that musical units are appropriately spaced throughout the parade and entries are positioned in the parade to provide maximum entertainment.

We have small children, seniors, costumed characters, vehicle that overheats and/or a busy schedule and need to be at the beginning of the parade. Can you honor this?

Approximately 90% of our special requests are to be placed near the front of the parade.  Obviously, we can’t honor most of these requests. We will continue to monitor these requests, but please understand our situation and plan accordingly.

I’m afraid that my float is too tall and may hit power lines.  Is there a height restriction?

Yes, floats must be less than 13’ 6”.

Will water and food be provided?

No food will be provided to parade participants.  Please bring enough water bottles for participants in your group.  There will be certain amount of water bottles at the end of the parade at Quintana.
